Belmont Hotel Dallas Views

Belmont Hotel Dallas Views

IMG_1861I just want to share a unique hotel find while on a shoot in Dallas for HNTB. Having to photography soil sample drills on the Trinity River early in the morning, I booked a nite at the Belmont Hotel in the south part of Dallas near Oak Cliff. I figured I had little to lose being five minutes from my shoot the next morning, and besides an old classmate of mine from Maur Hill, Michael Schmidt, said it had a great bar and view of Dallas.

Situated at the corner of Ft. Worth Avenue and Sylvan, I was more than pleasantly surprised to find a well kept, clean, modern hotel with a more than friendly staff, all at very reasonable prices. Sitting out of the patio having a drink and watching the light of Dallas emerge from daylight was incredible.

The Belmoth comes with a spectacular view of Downtown Dallas.

The Belmont comes with a spectacular view of Downtown Dallas.

The hotel has full health club benefits a the Belmont Health Club next door. An added bonus was finding a location right above the hotel that offered a perfect skyline shot of Dallas for both morning and evening shots.

I will go back to the Belmont, and suggest you check it out on your next visit to Big D.

I had to repost this from nbcdfw.com.

Will this be the first face you see when you walk into your local hardware store? Elliot’s Hardware hopes so.

Many may be familiar with the Wal-Mart greeter; the kind smiling individual standing at the opening of one of those mega-stores, ready to say hello. But DFW residents who know their nuts and bolts also know Elliott’s Hardware’s greeting force, who’re often the perfect sage to ask, “Where can I find a plunger?” as you walk into the store in pants wet up to your ankles.

Now Elliott’s has their sights set on a very specific candidate for adding to their greeting group: Former President George W Bush.

In a letter posted in the Dallas Morning News (which we’ve posted here), Elliott’s lists the job perks, including a flexible part-time schedule, ample parking for his security, and an employee discount for his “honey-do” project list.

Sounds like a joke, right? “We are offering the position to Mr. Bush in all sincerity,” said Kyle Walters, Elliott’s president and CEO. “We think it would be a great fit for him as he settles back into life in Dallas.”

Telling a Construction Story

Workers tell the story of Parsons Corporation’s construction of the new data backup center for Perot Systems in Dallas.

Sometimes it just all comes together.  You know it as you shoot.  So it was on the day I was photographing the new data information backup center being built for Perot Systems by Parsons Corporation, a worldwide engineering and construction firm.

I was hired to tell the construction story in photos.   The work would be used for marketing and the annual report.  Having plenty of activity throughout the project, and workers proud of their skills, translated into exactly what I was trying to achieve by the end of day.
